Yellow Submarine (1968)

"Well, in my humble opinion, we've become involved in Einstein's time space continuum theory."
"Oh, right."
"Relatively speaking, that is."

Part of a Franchise?...
Yellow Submarine is a surreal animated film, themed around the music of the Beatles. Unhappy with their second feature film Help!, the Beatles saw an animated feature as a good way to fulfill their three-film contract with United Artists, and only appear themselves at the film's conclusion. An orchestral score was composed by George Martin, which can be heard alongside just four new Beatles songs, with the remaining soundtrack being made up of previously released songs.

Watch or Drop?...
I think it depends on how much you like the Beatles and their music, as Yellow Submarine is obviously a very musical film. It's my own favourite of their three films and also one of my favourite all-time animated films, so it's easy for me to recommend watching it. If you're new to the music of the Beatles, the film's 'Songtrack' album, compiled and released in 1999, is at least a great introduction to their music.
